Kidd Returning to Dallas

ESPN is reporting that Jason Kidd is heading to Dallas. The Nets have apparently agreed to a deal with the Dallas Mavericks.

Dallas sending 24-year-old point guard Devin Harris, veteran swingman Jerry Stackhouse, the expiring contracts of center DeSagana Diop and swingman Devean George and guard Maurice Ager to New Jersey for Kidd and forward Malik Allen.
Sources say Dallas will also add the league-maximum $3 million in cash and send its first-round draft pick this June as well as a first-rounder in 2010.

Stackhouse will most likely be bought out of his deal, and afterwards he has the option of returning to Dallas.

Basically the Mavs are giving up Devin Harris, Diop, Ager and George (expiring deals) AND two future first round picks for Kidd and Malik Allen. If the Mavs don't win a title with Kidd, then this trade is stupid, cause Harris is going to be a solid point guard for years. The Western Conference teams have definitely beefed themselves up.

Rod Thorn made the best of this situation if you ask me, now it's time to unload the contract of Vince Carter.

That was exactly what I said about the trade. If they don't win the title it's just stupid. I don't really think they got any better. I mean Jason Kidd is Jason Kidd, but he's getting up there in age. Devin Harris is one of the fastest players in the NBA and he's got considerable skill. And Stackhouse was a very important part of the Mavs. And besides that they gave up Diop who was their main big man off the bench. That puts a lot of pressure on Dampier.
As for New Jersey's end, it does help them because they get rid of Jason Kidd's contract which is enormous and they get some talent back in return.
And as far as Vince Carter goes, Thorn definately needs to get rid of him if the Nets want to win. Just like his cousin T-Mac, he lacks the winning gene. He's lazy and he's not getting any younger. His days of slashing and driving to the rim are over and he's mainly a jump shooter now.
