The biggest upset in NBA history??

The biggest upset in NBA history could happen in the next two hours!

Last year when Golden State shocked the world, a lot of people that knew basketball called it. Though what we could see this afternoon is as big as it gets. Boston won 66 games, was heralded as the new beast of the East since the big trade for Garnett and most favored this team make the NBA Finals, or even win the title.

The Atlanta Hawks won 37 games. The Hawks would be the 12th seed in the Western Conference based on that record. Many thought it was a joke that they were in the playoffs with that record, "because it's the East." At this point, none of it matters, the Hawks are in Game 7 against the NBA's best team (record wise).

Nobody expected this series to go five games, or even six games, let alone seven games.

Now the young Hawks are in Boston, have a chance to make history and prove that with hard work, anything can happen in the playoffs.

Well, the game is halfway into the first quarter with the Celtics on top 12-8, on that note, more later...

Kevin Durant is the Rookie of the Year

I think we all saw it coming, especially when we heard that Greg Oden wouldn't play this year.

Kevin Durant won the NBA's Rookie of the Year Award yesterday, and defeated Al Horford by a pretty big margin (90 first place votes to Horford's 30), Luis Scola was third with 5 first place votes.

Durant put in 20.3 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game and 2.4 assists per game.

Durant will only get better, he was the focus of that team and had tonsof weight on his shoulders. That said, I agree that you have to give him his props and let Al Horford know that even though he didn't get the award, his team is in Game Six against Boston tonight and Kevin Durant will be playing video games at his place today.

Game Six Anyone?

Tonight's NBA Playoffs schedule has three game sixes on tap for us tonight.

Cleveland @ Washington @ 7pm ESPN2

Boston @ Atlanta 8pm ESPN

Houston @ Utah 10:30pm ESPN

I really hope Washington can push it to a Game 7 tonight, we need at least one Game 7and I think a Washingtn/Cleveland could be the most exciting. Agent 0 is done for, and it's up to Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison to do what they've done all season; play like All-Stars and lead that team.

T-Mac has carried that team to some record setting proportions since Yao went down, and now is the moment of truth for the Rockets. They'redown 3-2, playing in Utah and T-Mac has NEVER MADE IT OUT OF THE FIRST ROUND.

As much as I'd like to see Atlanta pull it out, I assume Boston will close it out tonight. The Hawks ride that home crowd who hadn't seen a playoff game since the last millennium, but I think tonight is the end for Atlanta, hopefully I'm wrong.

The Jay-Z diss to DeShawn Stevenson

This Cavs/Wizards series has been the most entertaining yet. All of the side storylines have been crazy.

The fact that Jay-Z stooped to this level is absolutely silly. Jay-Z is a 39 year old man, a hip-hop mega star and this guy is going to be jocking LeBron James like that?!?!

Rodman Arrested

Dennis Rodman skipped a ceremony a few weeks ago that was honoring him as one of the 30 greatest Detroit Pistons of all-time.

Now Dennis is allegedly out hitting women.

LOS ANGELES (AP)—Former NBA star Dennis Rodman has been arrested for allegedly hitting a woman at a Century City hotel.

Los Angeles police say the 46-year-old Rodman was arrested Wednesday night after officers answered a report of a domestic dispute.

Officer Sara Fayden says they learned Rodman had struck a woman, who suffered injuries to her arm.

Rodman was jailed for investigation of felony domestic violence and freed on $50,000 bail early Thursday.

Please someone, we need to get Dennis Rodman help. There is no excuse to hitting a woman, no excuse. Rodman has more problems than this and hopefully someone can talk some sense into this guy.

I am trying to start my career in other directions and this site is a conflict of interest with my future plans and it isn't ethical on that part to keep this site up and running. I've put a lot of work into this site over the past couple months, but unfortunately I have to put things to an end.

22 Straight: Rockets dominate Lakers in fourth quarter.

The Rockets should be thrilled and very proud of themselves. This is unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable.

FIRST PLACE IN THE WEST!

Rafer Alston saw what Jarvis Hayes did for the Pistons today and decided he could do better. Alston hit eight three pointers and scored a career-high 31 points today on the Lakers. The Rockets had a sluggish third quarter, but dominated the Lakers in the fourth quarter, notching the 104-92 victory.

Shane Battier was incredible on Kobe Bryant. Bryant scored 24 points on 11-33 shooting. Luis Scola continues his growth as a top rookie in the league adding 13 points and 11 rebounds, Bobby Jackson came off the bench to score 19 points.

Tracy McGrady didn't score in the first half, but the Rockets still had a 15 point lead at the the half. McGrady finished with 11 points on only 4-16 shooting, yet the Rockets still get the victory.

*Pau Gasol did not play for the Lakers today, because of injury.

Once again the Rockets played a short handed top team, but at this point, it doesn't matter. The Rockets are being gunned for, and they keep winning. The Rockets have pulled off the second best streak in league history, and Boston is coming to Houston on Tuesday. After Boston, the Rockets go on the road against the Hornets, Warriors and Suns. I assume the streak will be over during one of these games, but I've been wrong before.

Stay tuned NBA fans, we're seeing history in the making and the Rockets are playing at a dominating level against every team in their path.

Jeff Van Gundy said this today, and now you have to take some serious consideration, where is Tracy McGrady on the MVP list? As of right now and this point, you might have to say he's in the top three of four, and maybe higher. We all know who my MVP is, but in two weeks, let's see who's on top of the West, then we can talk. If the Rockets are on top of the West in two weeks, I'm going with McGrady.

Jarvis Hayes!?!?!

Detroit Pistons reserve forward Jarvis Hayes came in today and had a riot on national TV. Hayes scored 29 points, tying a career-high. He hit seven three pointers, setting a career-high, and he shot 10-13 from the field. Hayes was the man for the Pistons today coming off the bench, and the Pistons beat up on the Hornets 105-84.

Hayes is averaging 6.5 ppg on the season and his production and minutes have dropped considerably since the beginning of the season.

Hayes is a chucker, a guy that likes to shoot the rock when he gets it and he's very streaky, today was one of those days. I don't expect to see more games similar to this from Hayes this year. If Hayes can somehow find a way to give them 40-50% of his effort today on a consistent basis, it will make the Pistons a much more serious contender.

So to the announcers; don't call this guy Hayes "The Microwave" just yet.

CP3 4 MVP!!!

Chris Paul put on another spectacular performance last night, blowing up for a huge 26 points and 17 assists against the Spurs last night. Oh, and the Hornets beat the Spurs by 25 points, 100-75. That is incredible!

The Hornets held the Spurs to just eight points in the fourth quarter, another impressive stat.

The Hornets are now 43-20, and David West and Bonzi Wells are both back on the court for them, which is vital for their success.

The Rockets take all headlines, make it 20 in a row.

The Houston Rockets beat the Hawks 83-75 tonight after trailing 33-32 at the end of the first half. The Rockets have now won 20 games in a row, that is second all-time, tying the Milwaukee Bucks. They are absolutely rolling, guys like Chuck Hayes, Luis Scola, Shane Battier and more are doing whatever it takes to get the win and help out Tracy McGrady.

This team has one superstar active in McGrady, and a bunch of solid role players, they have a chance to possibly do something in the playoffs, but only time will tell.

This is incredible, 20 games in a row, I've never seen it before and odds are most of you haven't seen it either.

Think about it this way:

The last time the Rockets lost was January 27 against Utah.

Before the winning streak, the Rockets were 24-20, only four games above .500

Portland is currently three games over .500 and they are the 10th seed in the West

The Rockets are now 44-20 and are the third seed in the West, and one game out of first.

The ONLY Superman

I loved Dwight Howard in the dunk contest. He was fantastic and put on a show. The Superman stuff was great, but remember that there is only one true Superman in the NBA, and he's been Superman since 1992....

That is a Manute Bol stat line for one game!!
Manute Bol recorded 32 points, 29 rebounds and 31 blocks while in a game for Bridgeport, where he played his college ball. I don't care if they were Division 45, that's impressive. Manute will always be one of my favorite players of all-time, one of the most giving people in NBA history.

I wonder how many times they filmed this before they finally got it?

I bet the kid that screams when the shot goes in is happy his face wasn't part of the video...

The Rockets keep winning, make it 19

This is getting out of hand.

The Houston Rockets have now won 19 games in a row, they destroyed the
dismal New Jersey Nets tonight by more than I can count. They play in
Atlanta and at home against Charlotte this week as well, which means
this thing could very well hit 21 straight games. Right now, the
Rockets have the third best streak in league history.

Let's say they do hit 21 straight, their next 5 games are: Lakers,
Celtics, @ Hornets, @ Warriors and @ Suns, all in a span of Sun-Sat.
The streak will end soon, it's just a matter of when and against who.
On top of that, playing those 5 teams in six days could easily mean a
3-4+ game losing streak, which could even drop them nearly out of the
playoffs in the unfair Western Conference.

I'm excited to see how this plays out, would it be crazy to say
Wednesday in Atlanta? I hope it doesn't, I'm not going to lie, I'd
like it to continue for awhile. It's a good story, I just wish Yao
Ming could be out on the floor and be a part of it all.

In addition to tying the third longest streak in NBA History, they
also tied the longest streak of double digit victories (10 in a row).
I don't care if they beat Minnesota 19 times in a row, this is really
impressive. If they win Wednesday, they tie the 1970-71 Milwaukee
Bucks for the second best winning streak of all time.

If the playoffs started right now the Houston Rockets would face the
New Orleans Hornets, if I understand this silly seeding right. Would
that mean T-Mac finally gets out of the first round? I don't think so,
but I also thought there season was done two weeks ago.

Bynum still a month or so away

Andrew Bynum's return to the Lakers is more than likely at least a month away according to the LA Times. If the Lakers are going to seriously contend for an NBA Championship this year, Bynum needs to at least be at 85%. They are winning games now, playing really well, but the Playoffs is another story. Bynum was giving them All-Star numbers this year before the injury, and they need him for at least 12 points and 8 rebounds and of course his post presence at good strength.

If all of this falls into place, I really like their chances. So far, things don't sound so great. The first round is going to be almost just as hard the conference finals in the West this year, and there isn't going to be little room for error for Bynum coming off the injury.

I'm not going to lie...

I'm a little upset that the readers of this website, the few that I have so far, have only given Chris Paul 12% of the vote for MVP. C'mon people, he might not be as popular or as pretty as the other two guys, but the guy's numbers are just as great and what his team's doing might surpass what the other two teams are doing, especially the Cavs.

Wade done for the year

I expected this sooner or later, the Miami Heat announced Dwayne Wade will sit out the remainder of the season to rest injuries. This move is a great move for two reasons:

1. The Heat will continue to tank and hopefully get the first pick, in their best case scenario. Even with Wade, they'd probably tank. They honestly, can't get any worse.

2. Wade has looked lifeless, undetermined and heartless a lot of this season, maybe he needs to rest, maybe he is really hurt.

After all of this and a summer to revamp their roster with a lot of cap room potentially, maybe we can see if Dwayne Wade is going to be the player we once thought he was, or if he's going to be the next Vince Carter.

Rockets make it 18, Dirk passes Blackman

The Houston Rockets beat New Orleans last night 106-96. The Hornets didn't have David West, which means the Rockets beat another shorthanded team. The Rockets are totally shorthanded as well, but I'd like to see one of these wins against a top team that was at full strength. If the Rockets can do that we can really see if this is a fluke or not. I hate to keep throwing the Rockets under the train like this, but I have no choice.

18 wins in a row, is still 18 wins a row and Houston now has the third seed in the Wild Wild West.

Dirk Nowitzki dropped 34 points on the Nets last night and is now the Dallas Mavericks' All-Time Leading Scorer. He passed the great Rolando Blackman by one point last night and currently has 16,644 points, which I didn't even realize he'd been in the league 10 years, let alone had that many points.

It's not that I didn't know Dirk came to the NBA in the 1998-99 season, but I guess you don't realize how long ago that is, and the fact that this guy probably only has 3-4 years left in his career, so now you know why they traded for Jason Kidd. Let's face it, the Mavs need to win now.

Hawks win two games in one night

Well, if you don't know by now, the Hawks wound up winning tonight's replay. The original score of the game was 117-111. They replayed at 114-111, and that was the final score, no team scored. Judging from the picture above it doesn't look like many people got there to see the replay, but in two years when the Hawks are one of the best teams in the East (yes, I said it) all the bandwagoners will fill Phillips Arena.

The Miami Heat are awful, when they protested the first game they had Shaq and they weren't officially done, but now, they get the replay and can't even score. What a waste of time!

The two teams took 15 minutes to gather themselves and then got back on the court for a full four quarters in ATL. The teams played a tight game, but the Hawks beat them twice in one night, this time 97-94. Joe Johnson leads the Hawks with 39 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds. The Hawks get two wins in one night, and if Dallas beats New Jersey tonight, the Hawks will have sole possession of the eighth seed.

The Miami Heat are now 11-50 on the season.

Yeah, the East is awful, but it'd be nice to see the Hawks get their franchise finally turned around. I'd rather see Atlanta in the playoffs than the awful and depressing New Jersey Nets.

Rockets go for 18th straight against the Hornets

The Rockets are on an incredible run, the seventh best in NBA history. They have beat teams down since Yao went down, the games aren't even close. They beat the Dirk-less Mavs on Thursday night, but can they hold off the New Orleans Hornets?

The Hornets are obviously one of the best teams in the NBA and the Rockets are trying to prove that they belong in that conversation as well, even without Yao Ming. Tonight should be a true test to see if this winning with Yao is for real.

The game is at 8:30 PM ET on NBATV, so if you have NBA TV, it should be worth the time to watch.

Tonight is the Hawks/Heat Re-Do, exciting stuff

Am I the only one who thinks the re-do of the Hawks/Heat game's last 51 seconds is pretty neat? I hope not.

The Hawks are really going all out for this, trying to get fans in early and pack the Phillips Arena for the replay. They're offering dollar drinks and other specials, including a free Hawks Dance Team swimsuit calendar (that's enough for me) to the people that get there for the early re-do.

David Harrison threatens to kill Matt Bonner

David Harrison is a piece of crap, a really large piece of crap, since he's about seven feet tall.

It all starts with the fact that he is friends with one of those idiots who was on The Real World, and Harrison actually appeared on an episode of the show during his rookie season. Everybody knows that all those people who are on The Real World are pretty much tools.

Then Harrison gets suspended for smoking pot this year (he failed his third drug test and missed five games), just another thing the Pacers need for their image (they're the new Jailblazers).

Now Harrison is suspended by his own team for his conduct.

Harrison lost his composure inside the locker room after being escorted there by team security in the final seconds of the game. He wound up getting a couple of stitches in his head.

Part of Harrison's frustrations stemmed from San Antonio Spurs forward Matt Bonner hitting him in the face on a drive to the basket in the final minute of the game. Bonner was called for an offensive foul on the play.

The San Antonio Express News reported today that Harrison picked up the technical for telling an official that he was going “to (expletive) kill” Bonner.
-Mike Wells, Indy StarSo basically, Davidson screamed at Bonner that he was going to kill him. That's just great. Harrison has quite a bit of class and seems like a great guy. On top of that Harrison loses his temper like a moron and gives himself stitches and he has no idea how, awesome.

The best part about it was Bonner's response to it all....

"You only get a technical for that?" Bonner asked. "Will Ferrell got ejected for that in Semi-Pro."

Point being David Harrison sucks and Matt Bonner rules, plus his last name is Bonner and he has red hair.

Kevin Martin is sick, drops 48 tonight

The Sacramento Kings have some of the right pieces to be good, they just aren't. The West is tough nonetheless, but the Kings have a quality center, a great young SG, a great SF and some great role players--they probably need one small change, or one other player, and they can make it back to the playoffs.

If the Kings are bad, or not, it doesn't matter because Kevin Martin is great. Unless you play fantasy basketball, live in Sacramento or are a Kings fan, you might not even know of this guy. He's averaging 23 points per game this year, and spent nearly two months in a suit with a groin injury. He broke out last year going for 20 a game, he keeps getting better, and he's pretty consistent, to say the very least.

Martin dropped 48 points tonight on the Minnesota Timberwolves, even though the Kings lost to them 111-103. Win or lose, 48 points isn't too bad and that was a new career-high for the King's franchise guy, who also set a club record with 22 free-throws, nice work K-Mart, yeah, THE NEW K-MART.

Sorry to Kenyon Martin, but you're injuries have made you kind of whack, and you were overrated to begin with.

CHRIS BOSHChris Bosh is out for a couple games here with an injury, but maybe he's just really hungover from partying with these chicks. This guy can't even keep his eyes open, that's top of the line partying right there.

Rockets get 17th straight win in Dallas

Rafer Alston and the Rockets got their 17th straight win tonight in Dallas against the Mavericks, who were without Dirk Nowitzki. Alston had a season-high 24 points for the Rockets who put the pounding on the Mavs 113-98. This is the fifth straight win for the Rockets since losing Yao Ming, all of the games have been won by at least 13 points.

Obviously with Dirk out, it helped the Rockets out a bit, but let's not forget to give credit where it's due. They are on an unbelievable and very exciting run. 17 wins in a row ties for seventh all-time in NBA history, and beating Dallas at home is extremely hard even without Nowitzki.

The Rockets have another tough test on Saturday as the New Orleans Hornets come to Houston, can the Rockets really get their 18th straight victory? That's definitely the game to watch on Saturday for those of you with League Pass, make sure to mark the calendar.

Nowitzki will not play tonight

The Rockets have some weight off their shoulder tonight as they look to make it 17 straight, Dirk Nowitzki will be serving his suspension tonight. If you didn't see the flagrant foul that Nowitzki put on Andrei Kirilenko it was pretty cheap and pretty classless, on that note, it might be the most intensity, guts or edge that Noiwtzki has shown over the years.

Phoenix Suns Legend Kevin Johnson is going to run for Mayor of Sacramento in the upcoming election. KJ was a great point guard, can his floor leadership skills rollover into the political game, November will tell that tale...

Sweet Sixteen

"Sweet Sixteen" on MTV is the worst show ever, along to "The Hills." Though if my favorite NBA team won 16 games in a row, I would say that is pretty sweet, even if climbing the hill is going to be tough.

The Rockets set a new mark for consecutive franchise wins tonight, getting number 16 against the Pacers 117-99. They have won the last four games, by about an average of 20 points, all of which are post-Yao's injury.

During this 16 game streak the Rockets have defeated: Denver, New Orleans, Cleveland (twice), Golden State and Portland. These wins aren't all against crappy teams, and regardless of who you play, winning 16 straight is VERY difficult. The last time the Rockets lost a game was against Utah on Jan. 27, that's very impressive.

A huge test for the new look Rockets is going to be tomorrow night in Dallas, a team that has pulled off some huge winning streaks in the past few years themselves. This is more than likely not going to be a 15-20 point blowout. The Rockets have had some average or less competition in the four huge victories since Yao went down, so this is a huge test to possibly see where they're really at, plus you know the Mavs are going to be gunning to break that streak.

Should be interesting, but for now, we must admire the Rockets as one of the most impressive teams currently in the NBA, as T-Mac, Rafer Alston, Carl Landry, Luis Scola, Luther Head and the others keep up their fantastic play. Sorry, but I had to give some props to the names who have played great for them in the recent games.

23 points, 18 assists, 2 rebounds, 2 steals-- tonight for CP3

Paul led the way again for the Hornets who beat down the Hawks 116-101. Paul has been doing this all year, the Hornets have been winning all year. They are now 41-19, third best in the West and one game out of first. This is no fluke now, it's March. The Hornets are on pace to win 56 games this season. There are 22 games left in the season for them, can they do it? No doubt. They probably will.

Kobe's been great. LeBron's been great. There team's have done very well too, Kobe obviously much better than LeBron's.

Be honest, who saw the Hornets winning 56 games this year? Who saw them competing for best in the West come March?

CHRIS PAUL IS THE MVP OF THE NBA!

He's not getting near the respect he deserves for what he is doing this year. 21 points, 11 assists and 4 rebounds per game. Let's not forget about his 2.7 steals and ONLY 2.5 turnovers (at 11 assists, that's bonkers!). He also shoots 48%, 36% from beyond the arch and 88% at the charity stripe. This guy is playing at a ridiculous level, as is his team, the team he is the catalyst for.

When Nash won his two MVP's he average the same amount of assists pretty much, only 16 and 19 points per night and nearly FOUR turnovers as well.

John Stockton, Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas never averaged near that amount of assists with under three turnovers per game, Stockton came closest at three even, but the others were all around four.

Hmmm?

I guess the Hornets will need to win 70 games this year for Chris Paul to get the award that he deserves, at this point of the season.

In other statements, KG and the Celtics beat the Pistons down tonight 90-78, at another one of the Gardens in the NBA, the one in Boston.
Garnett had 31 points, six rebounds and three assists. Pierce had 15 points and 5 assists on a 5-9 shooting night and Ray Allen only had 3 points on 1-9 shooting.

The Pistons came out sluggish from the gate and tried to have late heroics, but the Celtics turned the defense back on in the fourth and held the Pistons to a measly 11 points in the quarter. If you're keeping track, the Celtics are up in the series 2-1 this year.

Kendrick Perkins added a career-high 20 rebounds to go along with 10 points for the victorious C's. Cassell did not play tonight, but might get on the floor for their next game against the Bulls on Friday.

Chris Andersen has officially signed with the Hornets. It's been two years and yes, he still has the awful hair, and even more tattoos I think. Here he is giving a hug to Hornets owner George Shinn in his first practice back with the team. I really hope this guy turned his life around, he might be able to help the Hornets out a bit, he's a really good shot blocker and of course has some pretty nice hops.

Cassell joins Celtics, Giricek heads to Phoenix

Sam Cassell has officially signed with the Boston Celtics, after a fiasco of him begging to go there for over a month now. This is a huge addition for the Celtics, absolutely gigantic if you ask me.

In addition to Cassell heading back to the Eastern Conference, Croatian shooter Gordan Giricek has signed with the Phoenix Suns. Giricek shoots the rock really well, he can heat up. We've seen what happens when people join the Suns, besides Shaq, they have career years. This is a great signing for them, I think he has the ability to really tear it up, once they figure out the formula to The Big Aristotle. Giricek is going to get tons of open looks from long range, you will probably hear a lot about him in the coming weeks.

Birdman is back!

Chris Andersen was kicked out of the league two years ago for violating the league's substance abuse policy, he has now been reinstated.

It is assumed the Hornets will give him a contract and he will rejoin the team where he became famous for ruining the dunk contest. This guy was on some hardcore drugs, though they never said what, it could have been Meth, Coke, LSD or something else ridiculous. That's probably why he sucked so bad in the dunk contest, he was too high to realize he took 10 minutes to do one dunk.

Well, I guess, I wish him the best and hopefully he cut that horrible hair.

This isn't hoops, but it's still huge

Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre has informed the team he plans to retire.

Favre was in the NFL for 17 seasons, 16 of which were in Green Bay. In my eyes, I think he's the greatest quarterback ever, at least the best I've seen. I was a late bloomer into football, and I'm no expert, but Favre was amazing. He was a man's man, he was so durable, so emotional, so energetic, so precise, so talented, so tough and just so damn great.

Tom Brady is a great quarterback, he's "the best" these days they say, but I would take Brett Favre over him in a minute. Favre isn't a pretty boy, Favre is the guy's guy, Brady is a Hollywood celeb, beyond a quarterback. Brady obviously has the hardware and great numbers as well, along with some records--but Favre wasn't involved in spygate, and obviously has plenty of numbers, hardware and records of his own.

I've seen Brett Favre do things that I don't think any quarterback that successful can do, or will do. The had guts, balls however you want to put it.

Brett Favre is the greatest in my eyes, it's a sad day in the NFL.

Now, yes, I'm from Detroit. Yes, I'm a Pistons fan, but where is Chauncey Billups on this list? To be honest, I'm not really much of a Chauncey fan. I mean the guy has had two horrible playoffs in a row, I understand. Though he has been to the NBA Finals twice, has a ring and a Finals MVP. The only person who can match or better him there is Tony Parker.

Billups is averaging 18 ppg, 7 apg and 3 rpg this year. He's shooting 44% and 40% from the three point line, including 91% from the charity stripe. His numbers are better than Parker's, and a little bit shy of the other players on that list.

How about this, Jason Kidd is putting up a complete line: 11 ppg, 8 rpg, 10 apg, but he shoots 38% and couldn't do anything in New Jersey, obviously now the tide changes in Dallas, but is that line all that better than Billups? Okay, 5 rebounds and 3 assists more per game, but how about the fact Billups has won a ton more games than Kidd this year, and not just this year, the past 5 years.

On top of all that, Billups' team has a better record than any of the other players on that list, second best in the league, and it's been that way almost all season. In addition to that, Chauncey Billups has the 2nd best +/- ranking in the entire league. Steve Nash is seventh, Chris Paul is in the top 15 and none of the other players are in the top 20. Some of this has to count for something, right?We don't have to jump out and say Billups is the best point guard in the NBA. Based on this year, the answer to the poll is Chris Paul, right now he's the MVP (that's another conversation that for some reason he's always left out of over Kobe and LeBron). I just find it interesting that Billups' name never comes up in this conversation and to him, and for what he's done in the past five seasons, that's an injustice. He's accomplished more than pretty much any of the names above, I would say Nash and Parker are the only exceptions. Jason Kidd is a great point guard, but at this point, he's not better than Billups, maybe they're equal?

I guess the main question is, is Billups a top five point guard? According to this list, he's not. Heck, there isn't one Eastern Conference point guard on the list, and Billups is undoubtedly the best PG in the East. He has his problems, he's struggled in the playoffs since 2006 (since his buddy Flip Saunders showed up as head coach, noticing a coincidence?), but he's still a great leader and player. His team has been in the Eastern Conference Finals for five straight years, and could be going for a sixth. He's been in the finals twice, won a title and the MVP, we shouldn't have to repeat this, but unfortunately for Chauncey Billups, he probably will have to continue to repeat himself to get his due in this league.

Arenas cleared to practice

The NBA's favorite blogger is cleared to practice and should be joining the Wizards on Tuesday.

Hopefully Arenas gets back on the court soon and is healthy, along with Caron Butler, the Wizards are almost seeing last year repeat itself (when Arenas and Butler weren't available for the playoffs).

Mavs get Kidd a backup..

Tyronn Lue who was traded to Sacramento in the Bibby deal is going to join the Dallas Mavericks, after being waived by the Kings.

Lue will be the backup to Jason Kidd, only to improve the depth of one of the potential contenders in the West.

Honestly, I haven't seen much of Lue or the Hawks this year, I had no idea he shaved his head and ditched the cornrows. Though Lue is a solid player and a very reliable backup, who can play some defense, something Dallas needs.

46 years ago Wilt Chamberlain made history.

There are a couple huge records in sports, Barry Bonds holds two of them, Cal Ripken holds another, Wil Chamberlain holds one as well.

Wilt 'The Stilt' dropped 100 points on the New York Knickerbockers in a 169-147 victory. Talk about dominance.

Records set in that game by Wilt.

Most field goals (36), free throws (28 of 32), most points in a quarter (31) and most points in a half (59).

Can you imagine seeing a game go into halftime and a player has 59 points?!?! It's rare to see a team go into halftime with that many points, let alone one man.

Props to Wilt Chamberlain, the guy was incredible.

Kobe is the man

Kobe Bryant dropped 52 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists against the Mavericks today on National TV.

Oh, by the way, the Lakers won in overtime 108-104.

A lot of people don't like Kobe Bryant, Kobe's never won an MVP, Kobe hasn't won without Shaq.

This is probably Kobe's year, if not, it's the start of great things to come.

Does anyone remember the type of Kobe Bryant news we heard back in the first couple weeks of the NBA season?

More on the Rockets

The Rockets lost Yao Ming for the season this week.
The Western Conference is tougher than ever.

None of this matters to them. They won their 15th straight game tonight, beating up the Nuggets 103-89. The Rockets went 3-0 this week, despite losing Yao. They won those three games against Washington, Memphis and Denver by an average of 20 points.
Memphis is obviously horrible, Houston is banged up, but Denver is definitely competing with Houston for a playoff spot. Regardless, winning three games like that after losing Yao and while on the NBA's longest streak of the year is impressive.

This team is playing some great basketball, they deserve some credit.

Dikembe Mutumbo has once again played solid minutes in Yao's absence. Luis Scola's numbers have jumped big time as well, and Battier put on a shooting display today. Rookie forward Charles Landry has also given them some great minutes this week as well. Add to that, Rafer Alston is playing at a very high level as well.

It's scary that a team can win 15 games in a row in February, heading into March and barely be out of an eighth seed. Portland had that awesome 14 game streak awhile ago and they're at the 10th seed. The West is ridiculous.

The main thing for the Rockets is getting to the playoffs at this point, I think they have what it takes, but the real thing is, can they make it out of the first round? T-Mac has never been able to do this, he's struggled with it. Even him and Yao together haven't been able to get it done, can he do it without Yao at this point?

If the playoffs started today, the Rockets would play Utah. I don't think the Rockets have a chance against Utah in a seven game series, especially with Yao hurt. The Rockets will be fighting up until April to get a playoff spot, many teams in the West probably will. By the time the playoffs roll around, I think T-Mac and the Rockets (especially starting center Dikembe Mutmbo and rookie Luis Scola) are going to be completely out of juices after a tough run to make the elite 8 of the conference.

About three weeks ago, I was questioning T-Mac's drive...again. I think a lot of people thought he might have been on his way out of Houston, I know I had a bit of a feeling it could happen. T-Mac is still a Rocket, he's playing great ball and he's leading a Yao Mingless Rockets team AGAIN. For the time being, you have to take the Rockets seriously, but this week is going to be tough with games against Indiana, Dallas (in the Big D) and New Orleans, can they make it to 18 in a row?

If anything, Rick Adelman might just be trying to get some Coach of the Year votes.

Remember Wayman Tisdale?

Wayman Tisdale was the 2nd Pick of the 1985 NBA Draft. He was a 6 foot 9 Forward/Center who averaged over 15 ppg and 6 rpg in his 12 year career. He played with Phoenix, Sacramento and Indiana in his career. He had some great years as a King, in the 1989-90 NBA season Tisdale averaged 22 ppg and 8 rpg, he was no joke.

If you do remember him, I don't need to go on.

Did you know that Tisdale is now a very successful jazz artist?

Tisdale is one of the top smooth jazz artists around today, known for his skills as a bassist. Tisdale has released seven albums since 1995. His latest, "Way Up" was released in 2006, here's a bit on him and his career now.

His Airness gets down with two very average chicks in Cabo, c'mon Mike, you can do better. Yes, Michael is single now, yes he's worth like a billion dollars, but not if Juanita Jordan gets her share. So that being, party on MJ, even if the chicks aren't that great (note MJ's intense thrusting face and ripped trendy jeans).

The amount of players rejoining old teams this year is out of control, well at least evident. Chris Webber back to Golden State (not that he's made much an impact, eh?), Jason Kidd to Dallas and you can add Theo Ratliff into that mix. It looks like Ratliff will be signing with the Pistons in the next couple days here, according to Chris McCoskey of The Detroit News.

Ratliff was a 1995 First Round Draft Pick of the Pistons, and if McDyess can stay on the court in Detroit, I bet Ratliff can give them some quality minutes in the playoffs.

Reunited? Cassell waived by Clippers.

Sam Cassell was waived by the LA Clippers today, and many think Boston is his next destination.

For the past 10 years Cassell has been one of the top point guards in this league, he's been vastly underrated, but he's always been a huge contributor, especially in his first seasons with a team. His first year in Minnesota he made his first All-Star Team, and the Wolves finally made it out of the first round (losing in the Conference Finals to the Lakers). His first year as a Clipper, he helped lead the team to their first playoff appearance in 2,000 years and they ALMOST made it to the Conference Finals (I think he was a very legit and overlooked MVP candidate that year).

Most think Sam-I-Am will be rejoining Kevin Garnett and head to bean town, if they do wind up getting him, I think it can legitimately put the Celtics into the finals, and maybe beyond. Even though the Celtics have had a great year, I don't think they were tough enough, or deep enough to win a title, but adding PJ Brown and Cassell can definitely change that.

The Celtics got a great veteran free agent today in PJ Brown. He is a Detroit Piston killer too, so that adds to his value for them. Now if Cassell can bought out and get to Boston as well, you have to start to like their overall chances.

No Yao, No Problem...so far.

The Rockets lost Yao Ming for the season today, as we all know. Tonight it looked like it didn't matter. The Rockets beat down the Washington Wizards tonight 94-69, without their All-Star center. That marked the Rockets 13th straight win, who knows maybe once Mutumbo gets into full game shape and used to playing again, maybe the Rockets can still keep hope alive in Houston.

Yao Ming cannot stay healthy

Yao Ming had quite a bit of pressure coming into the league. He had big expectations, he was the number one pick, he was a 7-6 monster who many thought would be a flop.

He has proven them all wrong. Yao has turned into a fantastic player, he's arguably the best big man in the game, alongside Dwight Howard. The last three years for Yao have been injury filled, and it's becoming routine. This year Yao appeared in 55 games for the Rockets. Last year, he played in 48 games, and the year before he gave them 57. He's missing way too many games, and now he won't even be ready for the playoffs.

It's unfortunate, but what can be done? Is Yao just not cut out for an 82 game season physically? He's obviously huge and one of the largest players in league history, and having fractures in his foot is not a good sign for his career to come.

It's a shame for Rockets fans. The Rockets are on a 12 game winning streak, and now they lose their centerpiece of the franchise, on top of that, T-Mac hasn't had much success with health either in recent years. Add to that, T-Mac has never been out of the first round, and losing Yao doesn't help his case. Even with a 12 game win streak, the Rockets are only have the 7th seed in the East, and are only 3 ahead of the ninth place Nuggets.

At this point, the playoffs look bleak for the Rockets.

This year was supposed to be the Rockets year, though the season never got off on a good note, and now it's going to end even worse. Yao, obviously should be back in uniform by next season, but can Houston be confident they can actually have him for more than 65 games next year? Also, is Yao planning on playing in the Summer Olympics, cause if I was a Rockets fan, I definitely wouldn't want him playing any extra ball, something that might be to blame for his constant injuries.

Hopefully this isn't the start of the end of Yao Ming's career.

The definition of ugly...

The San Antonio Spurs scored only FIVE points against the Atlanta Hawks in the first quarter tonight, compared to the Hawks 16.

The Spurs had the red hot Manu Ginobili on the court, along with Tim Duncan and a now healthy Tony Parker, but only managed five points. Talk about getting off to a bad start. Though the Spurs are a great team, because they can recover, they won the game 89-74, obviously taking over after that point.

The Spurs have rolled off six straight wins, and people sleep on them every year. They got Damon Stoudamire and Kurt Thomas for practically nothing (especially if they get Brent Barry back), and now have Parker back presumably healthy. This team is going under the radar a bit, and that works just fine for them. Personally, I'd love a Pistons/Spurs Finals. People say that's boring, but those two teams played a hell of a series back in 2005, the first seven game series in like a decade at that point.

How many hoops fans remember this?
I'm a wrestling fan as well, so I was jut in heaven when all this was going down. In 1998, the Bull were just a week or so off winning another NBA title against the Utah Jazz. Karl Malone couldn't get it done on the basketball court, but he had other plans. Dennis Rodman had some stuff with Hulk Hogan and the nWo of WCW, but Malone wanted in on the action. Malone teamed up with fan favorite Diamond Dallas Page (DDP) in a feud between Rodman and Hogan (who was a bad guy at the time). Enjoy this...and more to follow...

NBA Fights

Wow! I forgot about some of these! The NBA is obviously totally against fighting and there have been some bad ones, ones fans would like to forget (well, if you're from Detroit or Indiana at least). Though let's face it, some of these are entertaining. Watching this video made me think Vince Carter is a bit more of a punk than I thought he was...enjoy this, this was put together pretty well..

Long day...

The drive to the Suns/Pistons game is about 3 hours each way for me, so it was a long day. Since I'm from Detroit and a Pistons loyal, it was nice to see them pound on Phoenix. A fantastic game for Pistons fans, and a nice statement game on national TV.

Scary Scene in Charlotte Last Night

Gerald Wallace of the Bobcats took a brutal elbow to the face from the Kings Mikki Moore last night. The elbow immediately sent Wallace to the floor, where he laid for over 10 minutes before being carried out on a stretcher.

Wallace is a fantastic player, and just got back from injury, but this could keep him out awhile. This was his fourth concussion in four years, and he had signs of amnesia according to CBS Sportsline. Wallace was released from the hospital last night with no fractures or internal bleeding, hopefully he'll be back on the court in a couple games.

Why the Pistons WON'T win the NBA Title in 2008
