The Reserves Have Been Announced!

Well it took all day, but the excitement can end, here are the reserves:

Eastern Conference
G- Chauncey Billups
C- Chris Bosh
F- Caron Butler
G- Richard Hamilton
F- Antawn Jamison
G- Joe Johnson
F- Paul Pierce

Western Conference
F- Carlos Boozer
G- Steve Nash
G- Chris Paul
F- David West
G- Brandon Roy
C- Amare Stoudemire
F- Dirk Nowitzki

I can't complain, the coaches did a great job here, you can't complain with Joe Johnson getting the nod over Ray Allen too much. The only thing that bums me out is that Baron Davis was robbed! Yes, Baron Davis was really jipped out of this one (I had a feeling it was coming). The thing is, you can't complain. David West basically took that spot and he really deserved it, plus the game is in the NOLA. Brandon Roy, Chris Paul and Nash all need to be there. I would kind of preferred Baron to Carmello or A.I.

Sorry B. Diddy

All-Star Reserves...wait til 5pm.

Looks like we won't be hearing anything official until Inside The NBA tonight, so at 5 PM--BE WATCHING.

Hopefully your favorite player makes the team, unless they're awful or undeserving of course.

Earl Boykins to join Bobcats

The NBA's smallest player is back!

Earl Boykins and the Charlotte Bobcats have agreed on terms for the rest of the season. Good signing for Charlotte. They should officially announce the deal tonight or tomorrow.

Yes, Al Thornton did not make the team. Yes, he dropped 33 points last night after finding out. Hopefully he will get the spot if Mike Conley has to miss the game. Even though, I'm not going to lie, I'd love to see Rodney Stuckey of the Pistons in the game.

One of my favorite days is here...

ALL STAR RESERVES WILL BE NAMED TODAY!!!!!
I wonder who will make it? If you missed MY PICKS here they are:

Stoudamire will join the Spurs.

ESPN is reporting that Damon Stoudamire has informed the San Antonio Spurs that he will sign with them once he clears waivers tomorrow morning. That is a big help for the Spurs who have Tony Parker out indefinitely and obviously prefer Jacque Vaughn as a backup. The Spurs have dropped their last three games. It's assumed Stoudamire won't be in uniform tomorrow in Phoenix, so look for him to be in a Spurs jersey on Feb. 5 against the Pacers.

The Spurs schedule is brutal before the All-Star Break. Their next seven games are all on the road, and they play Phoenix, Boston, Cleveland, Toronto and Washington during that span.

More on the Kidd blockbuster...

Earlier I posted about what The Recorder in New Jersey was saying about a possible Nets-Mavs-Blazers three-way deal, here is some clarification on the deal:

In the proposed trade, Dallas and Portland would send the Nets a package that includes the Mavs' Devean George and Jerry Stackhouse and Blazers forwards Travis Outlaw and Channing Frye and guard Jarrett Jack. Mavericks point guard Devin Harris would be sent to Portland. Along with Kidd, the Nets would send reserve forward Malik Allen and center Jamaal Magloire to Dallas.

The Nets would also receive at least one future No. 1 pick and cash. It's expected that New Jersey would work a buyout with Stackhouse and allow him to be a free agent. Other players could be included to balance the exchange of contracts.

-Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports

Ouch.

Poor Al Harrington.

That does not look fun, but at least it's not Shaq or Mutumbo's foot.

Hilarious Sonics Commercial from 2003.

Back in 2003 the Sonics did some great marketing around European big man Predrag Drobnjak, they had a whole website and commercials. The whole thing was fantastic! This commercial is one of three that I will post this week, NUTSO!!

What Do You Know About This???

CEDRIC CEBALLOS- FLOW ON (1994)

Jason Kidd to the Mavs?

Let me get this straight...

First, Zo went back to Miami. Then Penny and Shaq got back together. Then Webber goes back to Golden State.

NOW...Jason Kidd might be going to the Mavs!?!? If only Grant Hill would have chosen Detroit over Phoenix!

This is great!! I loved the mid and early 90's so much, so this is exactly what I need to happen, let's all just live in the past! Hopefully if the Mavs get Kidd they will also go out and sign Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn too!

The Mavericks get involved in all trade scenarios, they also don't win championships, so this is always fun.

According to the Bergen Record (NorthJersey.com), the Nets are talking with the Mavs and Blazers about a three team deal:

-Kidd would go to Dallas
-Jarret Jack, Travis Outlaw, Jerry Stackhouse and expiring contracts DeSagana Diop and Devean George to New Jersey

The article doesn't mention what Portland would be getting, so who knows how legit these talks are. If I was Portland I wouldn't be ditching Jack and Outlaw unless I was getting serious talent back, those guys have played huge for them this season.

Other teams like the Cavaliers, Nuggets, Spurs and Suns are also interested. Supposedly the Lakers still might be in, but it doesn't look nearly as likely as it was last season.

This trade is going to happen, probably much closer to the deadline. If I'm New Jersey I'm also trying to find any taker for Vince Carter at this moment as well. Since Rod Thorn is a moron and kind of an arse in my opinion, I'm glad he has all the problems on his hand.

Parker: Shut Down. Stoudamire going to San Antonio?

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has shut Tony Parker down against his own will, and the guard has been sidelined indefinitely. Parker's bone spur in his left heel has already cost him three games earlier this season, and since returning, his play has seriously been affected.

Obviously, Parker doesn't want to sit and he's probably angry, but he needs to be healthy for San Antonio to win it all. In the meantime, he can spend some more time with Eva.

That also means even more so that the Spurs will get Damon Stoudamire. They are heavy on his trail, as is Denver, Orlando and Phoenix. It seems Boston has really fallen out of favor with trying to get him. I don't see why he wouldn't go to San Antonio at this point, it's the best choice if he really wants a title. Plus, depending on how long Parker is out, Stoudamire could be starting for awhile.

Where will Damon Stoudamire go?

Damon Stoudamire was officially waived today by the Memphis Grizzlies. His wish is to go to a contender and the Griz have been nice enough to help him with that.

Signs point to him joining Boston, but who knows where he will go. Knowing Dallas, they will get involved (they just have to have every player on their team once for some reason) and I've read that San Antonio has shown some interest in 'Mighty Mouse.'

The real question is, how much does he have left in him?

Jason Kidd, being traded?

So the Jason Kidd trade stuff is heating up again, and this time, I think it's for real.
Jason Kidd will be the biggest star traded by the deadline, the question is: Who gets him, and for what?

Later on I will go over some great possibilities for both sides in a trade for Kidd, but for now, I must discuss something else...

Is it just me, or is this pictures a little strange?

It looks apparent that Joumana Kidd does not have a top on (which is very sweet, I know). If that is the case, does Jason Kidd not have bottoms on? Then of course, same for her? If so, that is a bit strange. I mean I know when parents have little children they will bathe or shower with them at a young age, but I never knew that a whole family would just hop in a tub together (including both parents, not just a dad and a son, which I thought was normal).

I don't know, I think it's weird. I don't know how old TJ Kidd is in this photo, but from facial hair and eyebrows, I'd say he's at least 16 here.

Going, Going, Back, Back to Cali, Cali?

Chris Webber is more than likely going back to where he started it all and signing with the Golden State Warriors.

Webber did a fine job with the Detroit Pistons last season, helping them make it to the Conference Finals. He provided a spark for the them, in the POST-BEN WALLACE ERA.

What can he do for the Warriors is my question?

The Warriors a fast moving team, in a halfcourt set, Webber can really help ball movement for them, his passes out of the middle are brilliant. He also likes the jumpshot now, over a post game--in a Don Nelson offense, that will work and probably work well.

Nelson sticks to about an 8-man rotation, and Mickael Pietrus has really fallen out of it lately. They use both Andris Biedrins and Al Harrington at center, and neither should be losing minutes. Though Harrington can play the PF easily as well, same with Webber.

I think Webber made a good choice here, the Warriors can use him. He can probably give them a solid 22-29 minutes per game. You add his veteran leadership to that of Baron Davis and Stephen Jackson and you have some guys with good experience who have won in some important playoff games.

Don Nelson is a genius coach, on the offensive end, he's brilliant and the most creative in the game (who else would have let Manute Bol jack up threes like Peja Stojakovic?). Nelson's defense isn't too great, but neither is Webber's anymore. This works perfect. Also figure in that Phoenix, Dallas, Utah, Denver and the Lakers are all offense first teams, you have to like Golden State's chances. I don't think Portland would cause them that much trouble, but that is where the Spurs come in.

Overall, a good move by Mullin and his staff in Oakland, fans there should be excited. The main thing to look at, is Webber can't hurt this team.

It was about a year ago when they acquired Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington. At that time, they weren't even discussed in playoff talk, then three months later, they pulled off the biggest upset in NBA history.

NBA Name Droppin'

Hip-Hop has long been known for tons of NBA player name drops. I always love when an emcee uses a clever metaphor based on an athlete or sports team.

Joe Budden's "Pump It Up [Remix]" features Jay-Z, and maybe the most NBA name drops in one song, besides songs about the NBA ("NBA" by Joe Budden for example).

Here is the song in YouTube format to listen to, look for the following name drops:

MICHAEL JORDAN, KOBE BRYANT, TRACY MCGRADY, HAROLD MINER, J.R. RIDER, SHAWN BRADLEY, DIRK NOWITZKI, TYUS EDNEY, YAO MING, SHAQUILLE O'NEAL, PEJA STOJAKOVIC.

JOE BUDDEN- PUMP IT UP REMIX [FEAT. JAY-Z]

Andris Biedrins Is A MONSTER!!!

Biedrins kept his jersey on all night, and pulled down a career-high TWENTY SIX REBOUNDS tonight! I figured it was worth giving the guy props. He's a solid player.

Update: Is it just me, or does it look like Biedrins has a small sword/dagger implanted in his chest, down towards his belly button?

Boston is getting tired.

The Celtics got off to a brilliant start, one of the best in NBA history. I think people expected them to win a lot of games this year, I think having three All-Star players can kind of guarantee that happening. I mean they were off to like a 29-3 start, that's fairly incredible, I don't care who is on your team.

Today's loss against Orlando was a tough one for sure, a Hedo Turkoglu buzzer beating three sends the Celtics to another loss, they're now 5-5 in their last 10 games. I know, Kevin Garnett didn't play today, but still, the team has two other All-Stars. They've lost to some average or below average teams too. Orlando, Toronto, Charlotte and Washington (twice, back to back) have been the teams to take Boston down in the past three weeks. They also BARELY beat the NBA's worst team (record wise, sorry Miami) the Minnesota Timberwolves, 87-86 the other night. (Garnett was obviously thrilled to beat the lowly T-Wolves by one point as well)

This team was and still is an odds on favorite to make the NBA Finals, and even possibly win the title according to many. It looks to me like a lot of the energy is being used in the regular season, and they're only half-way through. The playoff journey is a whole extra two months.

Don't get me wrong, this team is still one of the top teams, but it seems like they're already losing some gas, and the journey ahead is a long one.

Don't be surprised if they fizzle out a lot sooner than expected, especially Boston fans and so many riding the high horse for them right now.

Turkoglu sinks Boston at the buzzer.

Hedo Turkoglu has had an All-Star type season for Orlando. I mean the Magic paid Rashard Lewis over $100 million to come down south, but Turkoglu is putting up better numbers than him. I will definitely say that Hedo is benefiting from the arrival of 'Shard and it's more of a result of Lewis' presence.

I thought this was a great photo of Turkoglu after hitting a buzzer beater this afternoon against the Celtics in a 96-93 victory.

Less than 2 years ago...

the Miami Heat we're celebrating an NBA Championship.

Tonight, they celebrated a 2 point win over the Indiana Pacers.

Yes, that 15 game losing streak is over.

Yes, the Miami Heat lost 15 games in a row.

Heat fans rejoice

Stinging the Competition.

The Hornets spanked the Spurs tonight 102-78. They've won 8 in a row now, if you're counting. They have the best record in the West, 2nd best in the league.

This team is for real! If they continue to stay healthy, watch out.

David West poured in 32 points tonight (15-19 FG) and 7 rebounds, yes, I'm sorry I left him off the All-Star team that I made, hopefully he makes it on Thursday (when reserves are announced).

Oh, and if you haven't seen these beauties...

Honestly, these are the best new Jordan sneakers in years. I liked the XXs a lot, but other than that since like the XII, the shoe has fallen off greatly. Maybe I'm just too retro, I don't know. Regardless, these things are wonderful. Wish I had a pair....

Western Conference Reserves

So earlier this morning my Eastern Conference Reserves were posted, I said stay tuned for the Western Conference and here they are. Before we get to business I must say that the West was very difficult, if I thought it was hard to only name seven in the East, well in the West, I have another thing coming. This is going to be rough...

Guard- CHRIS PAUL
He should have been a starter, but I guess people appreciate A.I. more. Paul is playing like the league's MVP. He's been healthy and the Hornets have perfomed beyond all expectations. As of right now New Orleans has the BEST RECORD in the West. Yes, Byron Scott might be coaching the West All-Stars.

Forward- CARLOS BOOZER
Injuries kept him out of his first All-Star appearance last season. His 22.5 ppg and 11 rpg are good enough for me. Hopefully he will play in his first ASG in a couple of weeks. Can you believe that him and LeBron could still be together if Cleveland would've just nearly maxed him out to begin with. Instead Cleveland has Larry Hughes for about 60 mil.

Forward- DIRK NOWITZKI
Dirk is doing Dirk, he's starting to come more into form. Dallas is playing better as well. He's still one of the best players at his position and in the conference, even if his numbers are down.

Guard- BRANDON ROY
The other huge surprise team in the West has been Portland. Roy has played at a very high level, and is doing so much for one of the youngest teams in the NBA. Roy is the leader of that team and at 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists per night, that makes him an All-Star in his second season as a pro.

Guard- STEVE NASH
That was easy. I don't need to say anymore than he's an All-Star and a two time MVP.

Center- AMARE STOUDEMIRE
Call me crazy, but I kind of want to see Chris Kaman get this spot. Amare is putting up 23 ppg and 9 rpg, the Suns 30-13. Kaman is putting up 18 ppg and 14rpg, but the Clippers are 13-25. Based on wins and team success, I just can't replace Amare with the NBA's living caveman.

Guard- BARON DAVIS
A lot of people have left Baron off their All-Star reserves. That is absolutely disgusting. This guy is playing at an incredible level, plus he's stayed healthy. Yes, there are still about 3 months left in the season, but Baron has been healthy so far. That's huge. He's averaging 22 points, 8 dimes and 5 boards and the Warriors are still doing well. You can't leave Baron off the roster, but I'd really like to place Stephen Jackson here, cause without him, the Warriors record isn't too hot.

So there they are, all 7 Eastern Conference reserves. I would like to apologize to the following players:

Stephen Jackson
Manu Ginobili
Tony Parker
Chris Kaman
Josh Howard
Deron Williams
David West (definitely should be there)
Shawn Marion

In conclusion, there are a lot of great players out West, and a lot of good teams. Spurs fans are probably going to hate me, but Parker and Ginobili haven't played better than Baron Davis, Roy, Nash or Paul--so they have to deal with it. The guy that really deserves it is David West, he will most likely be there next year.

So there you have it, the Outside The NBA All-Star Reserves.

Wanna help Rudy Gay win the dunk contest?

If you haven't noticed...

The Miami Heat have LOST 15 games in a row.

I'm speechless.

NBA Partyer of the Week

We're going to start a new feature here at Outside The NBA. In order to kickoff every weekend just right, we will tribute an NBA partyer and their full richeousness!!

This week's honor goes to Scot Pollard of the Boston Celtics.
Yes, I think Pollard is kind of a turd, but give him credit on the Hawaiian shirt. Obviously he is a chick magnet in those shades and with that chest hair.

Fantastic Old Commercial

Not only was the pump awesome, so is Bill Walton.

Eastern Conference Reserves

Seven spots to fill, and a lot of talent in the East. Of course people are going disagree with some of these, but you also need to consider a team's performance. Without further or do, here are the Outside The NBA Eastern Conference All Star Reserves:

Center- CHRIS BOSH
Bosh had a great campaign video, no doubt. More impressive than the video is his actual season. 22 points per game and 9 rebounds per game, and the Raptors are still winning. This guy will be an All-Star for years.

Forward- CARON BUTLER
The Lakers have played great, but imagine how great they'd be if they still had Butler? Well, he's an All-Star again and only getting better. He has been phenomenal for the Wizards this season and is doing great things for a team staying alive WITHOUT Gilbert Arenas.

Guard- CHAUNCEY BILLUPS
He's the best point guard in the East and his team actually wins games. You need C-Bill in New Orleans this year.

Guard- RICHARD HAMILTON
Rip and Chauncey go together. They're a great combo, they play for one of the best teams in the league--for the last six seasons.

Forward- PAUL PIERCE
The Celtics are winning. Pierce is a great player, he's the leading scorer and maybe the best defender on the new leader in the East. You know he loves having KG and Ray Allen in town.

Now here is the dilemma, there are two spots left. There are a lot of players playing great basketball in this conference right now. There are also ONLY six teams in the conference over .500 right now. Each one of these teams has at least one All-Star. Joe Johnson is having another great year, and the Atlanta Hawks might actually finally make the playoffs. Richard Jefferson is having a career year, putting in 24 ppg, but his team is awful and underachieving. Shaq is hurt, even though he's still the STAR of the NBA, numbers wise or not, he's the leagues best personality and the face of the NBA. Hedo Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis have played great helping the Magic resurge in the East. Michael Redd is a great player on a bad team as well, and Jose Calderon of the Toronto Raptors has been a guy to just blow people away this season. Calderon's numbers are astounding and he's done nothing short of help Bosh lead the Raptors to a plus .500 record, without TJ Ford. Since Ford went down, Calderon has been putting in about 15 ppg, 9.3 apg, 3.3 rpg on 52% FG shooting in addition to nearly 2 steals per contest and ONLY committing around 2 TURNOVERS PER GAME!!!

I can't honestly pick any of those guys over these next two, I just can't. So the final two spots go to:

Guard- RAY ALLEN
Allen's numbers are down based on his career stats, but that was expected since he's now on the court with two other All-Stars. Boston has the best record in the league, they deserve three All-Stars and they HAVE three All-Stars. Think of it this way, without KG coming to Boston, THIS DOESN'T EXIST. Though you can say the exact same about Ray Allen, a good guy, who's had a great career. He's back as an All-Star and deservingly so.

Forward- ANTAWN JAMISON
I see a lot of people leaving him off their lists in favor of someone like Richard Jefferson. I don't understand it. Jamison has been pretty underrated his whole career. He's a very solid player. He's played on some bad teams, but IF the Wizards were healthy, they'd definitely have nearly as many wins as the Pistons right now. Jamison continues to help carry this team with Caron Butler and the two are a force. Jamison is one of the only guys in the league who is putting up 20 and 10 every night (21.3 ppg, 10.4rpg). The Wizards have defied a lot of odds this year, without a superstar in Gilbert Arenas. They're 22-18, their season is far from over and they've beat Boston in back to back games. They've also had some other quality wins. Give Jamison his due, his team is winning.

Stay tuned for the Western Conference reserves tomorrow....

The Hawks and Heat to re-do Dec. 19th game.

This is pretty wild.

For the first time since 1982, the NBA is going to replay the end of a game. A game which saw the Atlanta Hawks beat the Miami Heat 117-111 in OT on Dec. 19.

The NBA realized that Shaquille O'Neal shouldn't have fouled out of the game, and so they will replay the last 51.9 seconds, the score was in favor of the Hawks 112-111, at that point in the game.

The game will be replayed before the Hawks vs. Heat game on March 8th--in Atlanta--where the original game took place.

Should be interested, will Shaq even be healthy for that game? Will Riley still even be the coach of the Heat then? Lastly, could this redo help the Heat tack on another win late in the season, to possibly help Miami sneak into the playoffs?

Mark your calendars Heat fans, you're going to need this one.

Wednesday, January 09, 2008

Riley to quit after this season?

Miami Heat head coach might leave the sidelines after this season, going back to the front office full time.

Mike Wilbon said on PTI today that he heard rumors swirling from Miami that Riley could be out by All-Star break, I can definitely see that happening. The Heat have been down right awful this season, they have the worst record in the Eastern Conference at 8-27, they're pitiful.

My guess is Riley won't finish the season with the Heat, he'd rather let them embarrass themselves then bring him down with them, but maybe I'm wrong.

Amir Johnson

Most of you probably know nothing about Amir Johnson. The kid could one day become a stellar player in this league. Drafted 56th in 2005, he is the last high school player ever drafted. This is his third season in the league and he is finally starting to get some playing time with Detroit (here and there), after signing a 3 year, 12 million dollar deal--based on his work ethic and pure potential.

Detroit fans love this kid, I am one of them.

This is what he does in his free time....

Jordan Farmar cranks dat.

"Crank Dat" sucks, Soulja Boy sucks, Jordan Farmar is having a great season though.

Here is Farmar, UCLA's Josh Shipp cranking dat Soulja Boy.

Amir Johnson is next...

Grant Hill to miss about 2 weeks.

Grant Hill has had his best stretch of games played since 1999-2000 this season. He has started all 34 games for the Phoenix Suns so far, averaging about 16 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists.

Hill is finally going to miss some time now. Don't worry it has nothing to do with his ankles. Hill hadn't been feeling well, and it was determined by doctors that he would need an appendectomy.

Here's to Hill getting better and continuing a fine season in Phoenix.

Oh Man!! The Good Ole Days.

The Clinton's vs. The Chicago Bulls

NBA Jam was one of the greatest video games ever, bar none.

Stephen Jackson: Finding His Way.

There aren't many players in the NBA like Stephen Jackson. That is meant in a variety of ways. With his off the court problems, on the court problems and his pure emotion, Jackson is one of a kind.

Jackson was drafted in the second round in 1997 by the Phoenix Suns, but was waived before taking the floor. He finally played an NBA game three years later joining the New Jersey Nets in 2000.

During his rookie season, Jackson put up solid numbers on a bad New Jersey team (8.2 points per game). After completing a full season with the Nets, Jackson found his way to San Antonio and signed with the Spurs.

Jackson was a critical member of that Spurs team that defeated New Jersey in the 2003 NBA Finals, averaging 12.8 ppg in his first ever playoffs. After a stop in Atlanta where Jackson started to work on his touch as a scorer and great outside shooter, he wound up in Indiana for the 2003-04 season. Jackson was one of the leading scorers for those Pacers teams that went deep in the playoffs.

His most famous moment in Indiana came on the night of November 19, 2004. In the middle of a blowout victory over Eastern Conference rival Detroit, the Ron Artest-Ben Wallace scuffle turned into "The Malice at The Palace." Jackson wasn't holding back either, doing quite a bit of talking on the court as Wallace and Artest got into it. The moment Artest was hit with a cup and hit the stands, Jackson followed. Fighting with Pistons fans on a nationally televised game on ESPN. The fallout became a 30 game suspension for Jackson, and the start of his problems as a Pacer.

In October of 2006 Jackson found trouble at a strip club in Indianapolis. Jackson and some teammates got into an argument with some of the club goers. The aftermath resulted in Jackson being punched, hit by a car (no major injuries) and Jackson firing off shots from a 9-mm pistol, claiming self-defense. On October 11, 2006 Jackson was charged with a felony count of criminal recklessness.

As the 2006-07 season began, Jackson was averaging the lowest point total of his Pacers career. Controversy was surrounding his underachieving team and on January 17, 2007 Jackson and Al Harrington were traded to the Golden State Warriors. Since arriving in Golden State, Jackson has been nothing short of a miracle acquisition for the Bay Area.

In his Warriors debut Jackson put up 29 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. His stats haven't dipped much either, as he is now putting up the best numbers of his career in Golden State. Upon his arrival to Golden State the team was barely in the playoff picture. The Warriors managed to not only make the playoffs with Jackson's tremendous impact, they pulled off the biggest upset in NBA history. The Warriors defeated the top-seeded Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the 2007 NBA Playoffs. Jackson averaged 22.8 ppg during the series, but the Warriors lost to Utah in the second round.

Prior to this season, Jackson was named a co-captain of the Golden State Warriors by head coach Don Nelson. The move was questioned by many, especially since Jackson started the season on a seven game suspension (for his felony charges of firing off the pistol). The Warriors began the season 1-6 and the idea of last season being a fluke of success was definitely becoming more valid as the games went on. Since Jackson's return from suspension the Warriors are 19-9 and right back in the deep playoff race of the Western Conference.

Jackson has averaged career numbers this season as well. "Jack" (as affectionately called by teammates and coaches) has been adding 21.5 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 4 apg and a steal every night for Golden State, along with being that emotional leader they need. His impact on that team cannot be measured in just stats, the wins are obvious.

Consider that the team had no shot to make the playoffs before his arrival last season (let alone beat a 67 win team). Then add the fact that with Jackson serving suspension the team won only one of their first seven games. Jackson definitely is not only making a case for the All-Star team, but the MVP as well, as highly unlikely as that may be for some to fathom.

It's a great story, and it's one of those things that will hopefully make people forget about his troubled past, and also help him completely leave it behind as well. As far as technical fouls go, he will get them. Energy and emotion will always be there for Jackson, it's what makes him the player he is. Learning to control it in big time playoff situations is the only thing he needs to worry about.

Jack now has the confidence of his teammates, coaches and the Warriors fans. It's now time for the rest of the NBA to know how great of a player he is and how much he's grown up.

Still Under Construction.

Remember, though I am posting a bit here and there and getting back in the groove. The site is still under construction.

Kidd: Three Triple Doubles in a Row.

Jason Kidd's statistics are sickening.

This season he is putting up 11.5 points, 10.7 assists and 8.8 rebounds per game. That is disgusting. He is a fantasy basketball dream come true, he's a beast. Too bad the Nets are underachieving again and are 17-17 on the season.

Tonight Kidd had his third straight triple double with 13 points, 11 rebounds, 12 assists. The last time a player had three straight triple doubles was 11 years ago (Grant Hill) [Bob Sura did it in 2004, but the league reversed it]. The Nets were pounded by the Charlotte Bobcats though, 115-99.

Kidd is definitely one of the best players of all-time, unfortunately his clock is ticking and a title is definitely not in New Jersey's near future.

Tonight on ESPN.

The Pistons go for their 11th straight against Chris Bosh and the Toronto Raptors at 7 PM.

After that watch the awful Miami Heat go up against the Dallas Mavericks at 9:30 PM.

The Only Reason To Vote for Chris Bosh.

I know that LeBron James and Kevin Garnett are both forwards listed on the Eastern Conference ballot, but the way I see it, you should vote for Chris Bosh!!

Here's why:

On top of all of that Bosh is still putting up 20 ppg and 10 rpg, and the Raptors are 17-15 (4th in the East, despite some injuries early in the season, including a huge blow with the loss of Jorge Garbajosa)

VOTE 4 CHRIS BOSH!!!

Zach Randolph gets suspended for a game.

You are not allowed to throw your headband at an official.

On a side note, he's only putting in 17.7 ppg and 10 rpg this season, it's remarkable how when you go to New York, you're just not the same. Of course Randolph has always been a questionable character, but the guy was putting up about 24 ppg and 10 rpg last season for good measure, and both teams are crappy.

TJ Ford is coming back soon.

Raptors point guard TJ Ford is on his way back to the Raptors lineup fairly soon.

TJ has taken some big bumps in a young career, I wish him the best in his comeback from another scary injury, but damn, you have to love the way Jose Calderon steps up anytime Ford can't go.

Daily Update

The Detroit Pistons won their 10th in a row last night taking out the Washington Wizards 106-93.

Richard Hamilton led the way for Detroit with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists.

Tonight you have a chance to watch the red-hot Portland Trail Blazers on TNT. The Blazers travel to Chi-Town to play the Bulls. The Bulls have won their of their last 5, and under interim coach Jim Boylan, they hope to get back to winning ways.

Quick Hits
-Ron Artest underwent surgery to fix that elbow that's been bothering him, he should be out 3-4 weeks. Francisco Garica has dropped 30 and 22 in two starts since Artest went down, so if you play fantasy hoops, get on top of that.
The Kings have now lost Artest, Bibby, Abdur-Rahim and who knows who else. If you're a John Salmons fan, then you've enjoy his breakout season because of the injuries.

-Troy Hudson is probably out for the season, what's new? This guy can never stay healthy anymore.

-Chris Mihm is out 3-4 weeks, but it's not like he was going to cut into Andrew Bynum's time anytime soon anways.

More later.

So after all this time?

Honestly, after being gone since late June what in the world do we talk about? Where do I begin?

So much stuff has happened in the NBA in the past six months. How do I pick one storyline? I could talk about everyone's favorite Boston Celtics, or how Kobe is still a Laker, or how the Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat are all awful!!

What about something that hasn't been overhyped by the media? What about something that someone should be totally overhyping!!!??

THE PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS WON 13 GAMES IN A ROW!!!!

Brandon Roy and the Portland Trail Blazers are the youngest team in the NBA, they were expected to be nothing special maybe 30 wins tops, if you were wishfully thinking. All of a sudden they have 18 wins! New Years Eve marked the end of a remarkable run for the young Blazers, a run that lasted 13 straight games.

13 straight games!?!

That's a lot of games, that is something only elite teams do. We're talking Dallas, Phoenix, San Antonio, Detroit and probably nobody else in the league does that kind of stuff.

Brandon Roy is an incredible player, but what a great supporting cast he has in Martell Webster, Travis Outlaw, LaMarcus Aldridge, Steve Blake and Joel Pryzbilla (amongst others, no disrespect). The team is getting a solid contribution from all kinds of guys.

Remember this is the team with the #1 pick Greg Oden sitting in a suit all season!!!

I'm happy for the Blazers, how can anyone not be? This team, franchise and organization was so great for a long time (always making the playoffs, year after year), then they hit rock bottom not only in standings but in character. The fans didn't care, the players were always in trouble with the law and they weren't getting it done on the court.

Now they have the youngest team in the NBA and are one of the hottest teams in the league. They are currently the 8th seed in the Western Conference, and I still think making the playoffs is going to be a very difficult task for them to keep up, but it is very likely.

The 13 game win streak is remarkable, no matter who it's against. They beat Denver twice, Utah twice and Golden State once and those are all impressive victories (even if Utah hasn't been great so far). They also beat Detroit earlier in the season, and Detroit has the second best record in the whole league.

So, yeah Portland probably won't make it to a a conference final or even a second round series, but hey, you never know and you have to like the fact that Rip City is back and they're playing at a really high level.

The best thing of it all for Blazers fans, you still have Greg Oden on the way for next season (here's to his rehab and getting into game shape).

We're Back!!

Ladies and Gents, we are back in business!

It took a long time and there is tons of work to come, but I'm finally in the process of getting this thing rolling again.

Bare with the site as it continues to improve.
