Nobody expected this one....
After all the excitement of yet another blockbuster, it has been put to a stop, or at least a temporary hold.
Mavericks forward Devean George has a very rare clause in his one-year contract (not many players have this) that allows him to veto a trade. He has nixed the idea of going to New Jersey, so for now, the trade is off.
Crazy.
Now, you may say, "Well, he sucks anyways, so why don't they just make the deal!?"
Devean George is a crucial part of this deal, because he is an expiring contract, which gives the Nets more cap room, so he has more value than one may think. George has about 2.4 million coming off the books this year, so it's a nice sum for a team to absorb.
I don't honestly know if the Nets will do this without getting that money, nor if it is actually possible for the trade to matchup salary-cap wise.
This might be a sign from above to the Cavaliers to do whatever it takes ASAP to try and get Kidd, LeBron really wants him and he'd greatly improve their team.
I'm assuming the Mavs/Nets will find a way to work it out.
