I know Darko has heard the boos. He's taken the heat, and that's part of the game. We've heard countless times about the Pistons' mistake with him, but in this year's playoffs, Darko hasn't been half bad.
Matter of fact, I'd say Darko has played pretty well.
The kid is putting up nearly 12 pts, 4 rebs and a block against his former 'mates from the D. Darko is also shooting 68%. He's doing this in only 26 minutes a game too.
Yeah, it isn't phenomenal, but it is much better than what he has done in the past. On top of that he still gets under 30 minutes. A lot of people fail to realize that the reason Bosh, LeBron, Melo, Wade, etc. are putting up great numbers and are becomming stars, is because...THEY ACTUALLY PLAY!
Darko only plays about 28 minutes per game, compare to about 39 minutes AT LEAST, for the rest of them guys. Remember, Darko is still only 21 too.
Darko is learning and growing, I think he has found a pretty nice place in Orlando to do so, and in a couple of years, the kid is going to be a great player. Yes, I said a great player.
Take his regular season averages of...
8 points
6 rebounds
2 blocks
1 assists
23 minutes
Let's say he was getting 38 minutes a night, hell, most stars his age play at least 40 minutes.
If he was playing those type of minutes, Darko would easily be putting up
15 points
10 rebounds
3.5 blocks
2 assists.
I would take that on my team any day. With those numbers, he'd probably be a top 3-4 center in the league as well.
So yeah, so many people gave up on the kid, but I think you did it way too early.
